Stations of the Cross: Prayer in Music

Music by Luke D. Rosen

Prayers and Reflections by Brian Tittl and Joyce Lehman, CPPS

Poetry by Sue Dwyer

In 2002, the Contemporary Music Group performed an original work based on the fourteen Stations of the Cross. Music, prayer, dance, digital effects, and special lighting all came together for a powerful religious experience. It has become a Corpus Christi tradition to present this work every Good Friday.

The music, a conglomeration of styles threaded together by the repetition of themes, brings together voices, flutes, violin, brass, guitars, and piano. Each Station is prefaced by a narration explaining the episode on the way to the cross, plus offering reflection on what the story might mean in our own lives.
