Happy Easter!

He has risen!

Friends,

For over two thousand years, the empty tomb has been a perpetual symbol of light, hope and new life in the midst of the darkness and disorder of the world. Each age has encountered natural and moral disasters that make us question where God is in the midst of them. At the empty tomb, Easter tells
us God’s answer: “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” (1 Cor. 15:55).

While suffering and death remain part of the human experience, Jesus’ passion and resurrection have stripped them of their eternal power and given us the divine formula for overcoming the temptation to sin and the overwhelming fear of death.

As we still contend with the lingering effects of COVID and see violence in Ukraine and elsewhere in the world, we need again the message of the empty tomb. Even though natural suffering and sin seem to hold sway, God is still in control.

Blessed Easter to you and your families,
Fr. Jeremy
